Hi, I'm Jahid 👋
A software engineer crafting delightfully dumb but surprisingly effective solutions.

I’m Jahidul Islam — most people just call me Jahid, and you’re more than welcome to do the same.
This little corner of the internet holds four major pieces of my digital self:
Projects, Experience, Writing, and Who I Am.

Writing
Who I Am
Day by day, I’m finding myself more drawn to communicating through text rather than voice. It hit me that I might be slowly shifting from an extrovert to an introvert. So, I took a little personality check—and yep, turns out I’ve changed!
So if you ever interact with me in person and think I’m not that talkative—nah, that’s not it. I’m actually super conversational... just maybe over Discord, not face to face. If you’re also more of a keyboard-talker, feel free to reach out— @iamthejahid. I'm usually lurking around.
If there’s one place I completely lose myself, it’s in movies. I probably average five a week. My all-time favorite? Interstellar. Not just for the science, but for what it says about time, love, and human connection.
Back when I was a curious teen, I even translated subtitles for two of my childhood favorites: The Mummy (1999) and Enemy at the Gates (2001). I uploaded them on Subscene in 2014—and even though Subscene’s down, you can still find them here.
Also, yes—I’m an anime guy. Attack on Titan has my heart. And… maybe I do enjoy the occasional K-drama. But let’s keep that between us. 😉
When I wasn’t watching, I was probably reading. I grew up idolizing Masud Rana—our Bengali answer to James Bond, but with more depth and emotion. In 2011, I joined as an admin of the মাসুদ রানা -বাংলাদেশ কাউন্টার ইন্টেলিজেন্স fan page and eventually turned it into one of the first defense-themed pages in Bangladesh.
That passion? It stuck. From C4ISR systems to the history of the SAS. Honestly, it's a subject I could talk about all day long! I’ve even contributed to the Bengali Wikipedia, mostly on military topics. Here’s one of my pieces on the SBX Radar.
Growing up, I always dreamed of flying. Not commercially—I wanted to be a fighter pilot. Fate had other plans, but that childhood dream never left. To this day, the F-86 Sabre remains my favorite aircraft. There’s just something about the history and design that hits different.
That love for the airwaves also led me into radio. I cleared the radio license exam back in 2018 through BTRC, and now I finally have my own call sign: S21JIA. And yep—my first QSO is already in the log. Couldn’t be more excited for the journey ahead!
These days? I ride. I own a Gixxer Monotone 2024 edition and take off whenever the city feels too loud. Most recently, I visited Saint Martin’s Island—and I completely fell in love with the sea. It made me realize: next stop? Learning to swim.
